CLIMATE IN THE ICE AGE

National Museum - Climate in the Ice Age

The National Museum is Denmark's largest museum of cultural history. The aim is to develop conditions to allow everybody to get an insight into our cultural history.

The Challenge

The National Museum wanted not only tell about, but also let students experience the effects of massive climate changes on people throughout history. They wanted a web-based solution that could be used in Danish schools for teaching subjects such as history and geography.

The Solution

The solution consists of a time-line based webpage that allows the player to zoom in on interesting articles for 10 specific time-periods ranging from the ice age to a glimpse of what might happen in the future. We also developed games for three of the most significant periods, which lets the player experience how the dynamic between climate and people have affected the way we live. From the time of hunting and gathering where people had to adapt to natures changes to the way we live today, where people are in-fact changing nature.
